Maple syrup season is a much anticipated rite of spring at Heartwood. Our sugarbush and sugar shack are social hubs when the sap is flowing and the syrup is boiling in our wood fired evaporator. Three-generations of family, with help from friends, make award-winning, small-batch maple syrup, bottled and labeled by hand here on our farm. As winter progresses to spring, the character of the sap changes, leading to subtle variations in the maple syrup. Always delicious, our bottled syrups are all Ontario Grade A, and either Amber or Dark in colour.

We love to think outside the box: our family enjoys our maple syrup in homemade hot cocoa, as a marinade for our home-raised chicken, in smoothies, on crepes, and of course, in many of our craft ciders… this gift from the forest gives back all year round!
